Varna Boys & Youth Choir

We shared an evening with the Varna Boys Choir.  We were lucky enough to arrange a concert during their tour of the United States.  The troup is from Varna, a seaport town in Bulgaria.  We were doubly blessed because the choir also assisted in our morning worship on March 14th.  The Saturday night concert included a variety of music including traditional Bulgarian folk music, music from the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, and even a traditional American spiritual in English.

During the choirs intermission, we were entertained with traditional Bulgarian folk music and folk dance.  This was presented in traditional folk costume, and was very beautiful.

Many church families opened their homes to our visitors for their stay-over on Saturday night.  It was such a pleasure to have the boys in our homes.  Many of them spoke very good English and were very good ambassadors for their native land.  We learned about their families and their homes.  We hope that we will someday meet again with these wonderful people.  After morning worship, it was time to pack the bus to go to the next stop on the tour.  Thank you to everyone involved with the Varna Boys and Youth Choir, the boys, the leaders, the instrumentalists, and the dancers.
