McDonough First United Methodist Church

Mrs. Inez Retires

It was with a lot of sadness that we wish farewell to Inez.  Inez is retiring, and we will surely miss her.  We celebrated Inez Day recently and the outpouring of love was overwhelming.  The fellowship hall was packed to capacity for the Wednesday supper honoring Inez.  Extra chairs were brought in, and many people ate in shifts.  The purpose of the night was to say good-bye to a very dear staff member.

After our dinner, we filled the sanctuary for a wonderful send-off.  The ladies ensemble from the chancel choir sang two beautiful songs to honor Inez.   The children of our 5th an 6th grade fellowship presented a beautiful remembrance quilt with their handprints and names on it.  Gail presented a gift from the staff.

There was a time set aside to "Roast" Inez.  The roast was more like a testimonial as many people young and old shared their love with, and their love of Inez.  Tissues (actually the handy roll version) were available throughout the church.  After the roast, our Lay Leader presented Inez with a gift from the congregation.

We can not say enough about the good work that Inez has done for McDonough UMC, and we can not say enough to show how much she will be missed.  Sherrie did ask for an information sheet on where to find things, because Inez always knows where to find things.

Inez, we wish you a wonderful retirement.  Your McDonough family loves you, and we want you to know that you always have a place here and in our hearts.
