Here at McDonough First United Methodist we have many opportunities for our older adults to get involved in the church. Along with Sunday School, United Methodist Women, and United Methodist Men, we also have a very active group just for the older adults. It is called The Sunshine Club.
The Sunshine Club
The Sunshine Club is an ecumenical ministry open to those 55 years of age and older throughout Henry County. It meets at noon on the 3rd Tuesday of each month September through May for a catered lunch, a program, and fellowship. There are some day trips during the year such as a trip to the mountains in the fall for apples, to a mall for shopping between Thanksgiving and Christmas and again in the spring. Other trips have been to Massee Camellia Gardens, New Perry Motel, Callaway Gardens, Isabella's, and the Blue Willow Inn.
This is probably the most active group in our church. The Sunshine Club is always doing something special. Nothing holds this group back. This group is open to anyone 55 and over and we hope that you will come out and join us when you can.
