McDonough First United Methodist Church
Consecration Sunday
August 7th, 2005
We are officially in our new building. It is a magnificent accomplishment, and a beautiful addition to our property. We now have an additional twenty plus rooms for Sunday School, a state-of-the-arts pres-school wing, a modern youth wing complete with a large room for gathering, a gorgeous library and conference room, a complete modern kitchen, and a very spacious gymnasium complete with stage for special programs. The gym is open for walking, volleyball, and basketball and the recreation committee has posted a schedule for the use of the gym. On the seventh of August, our District Superintendent, Rev. Clay Jacobs, led us in our morning worship. The entire congregation then processed to the new facility, and we celebrated a service of consecration in the gymnasium. Sunday school classes met in their new classrooms for services of thanksgiving, and then everyone had lunch together in the fellowship hall. God has blessed us, and we are thankful.
